The origin of slow cooker is short and brief. Back in the beginning of the 1960s, the electric bean cooker was first made by the “West Bend Corporation”. This cooker was brought out as the Bean Pot. Basically, it was a crock pot on a tray that heated up. The Beanery was actually the slow cooker’s first true forerunner. “Naxon Utilities Corporation” was responsible for developing that one.

The rights of the Beanery was given to Rival Industries when they had purchased Naxon in 1970. In the world of slow cookers, Rival began its exploration. The company found that many types of foods cooked wonderfully with this same method. During 1971, 25,000 cookers were introduced and sold to the market as the first official Crock-Pot.

Another innovation in 1974 came with this product when the inside crock could be removed for cleaning. Saving energy became also an encouragement to people. The usage of low-wattage Crock-Pot made it easier.

For working women, it was Rival that started to show how to easily fix meals with the slow cooker. Rival knew that it would appeal to women that they could cook a meal, while they were away at work. In the middle of the 70s, different versions were made by other companies. Although, a lot of them are no longer around.

Rival continues its leading in today’s market with its slow cooker. They command a whopping 85 percent of the market. They offer a variety of sizes in many different models. These models have proved over the years to be extremely useful.

In doing cooking more effectively, it has automatic controls as well as timers. A lot of cookbooks have been written specifically for slow cookers giving many meal recipes.

Today, a lot of new brands of cooker emerge but the Rival Slow Cookers are still the the best known. You can have sumptuous large-size types if you have huge family. In it, you can cook different food stuffs from beef stew to chuck roast.

Chili, spaghetti sauce, and any one-pot meal are some of the great recipes suited to cooking in it. Everyone has such a busy life these days the slow cooker is used on a daily basis in some homes.

You can find them ranging from a 16-ounce size up to a 7.A 4-quart size. This is the crock’s dimensions. There are mostly different heat settings, either high or low, and for some have a warming setting. In heating food, the low setting is having a temperature of 170 degrees and from 190 through 200 degrees Fahrenheit is its high setting.

In cooking food perfectly, the quantity of the liquid must take in consideration.. The food you cooked is one of the factors to be considered for the amount to be used.. The operating instructions and cookbook’s instructions can be follow through a manual..

Another innovation that has happened with slow cookers is that of the rice cooker. The derivatives of original slow cookers are special rice cookers. So the history goes on for the very convenient cooking tool.
