Now over 100 years old, Farberware manufactures and sells a large inventory of kitchen gadgets and accessories covering the spectrum from electric appliances to cookware to teapots. One of this company’s notable product lines is kitchen knives, which consist of five series. Based on information from the company’s website, these five are the Farberware Millennium, the Stainless Soft Grip, the Farberware Classic Series, the Farberware Professional and the Farberware kitchen knife sets, all of which feature lifetime limited warranties.

Product Features

The Millennium series includes stainless steel handles attached to fine-edged blades which happen to be dishwasher-safe, renedering them more easy to maintain than most high-end kitchen blades. The Stainless Soft Grip series includes the same features present in the Millennium series aside from the issue that hand washing is recommended. The Professional Series has the same qualities as the first two series plus that professional series handles have three rivets to enhance their resilience and strength.

The Classic Series and the Ultraedge Pro Series of the Farberware kitchen knife set reportedly call for no blade sharpening thanks to their high-carbon stainless steel blades, that are now admittedly the most popular blades for cutlery in the last few years. With their non-slip handles formed from polypropylene, and you have a very good knife. One small item that you need to remember, apparently, is which Faberware knife set calls for hand washing instead of dishwasher cleaning.

Advantages

Well, if you are the type who won’t normally wash knives as you finish, but instead put them into a dishwasher, the Farberware Millenium series would be ideal for you. Remember, though, you must remind yourself that even the highest kind of steel will rust after too many exposures to the soaps employed by your dishwasher.

Also, many of the Farberware knives are made of high-carbon stainless steel, that is proven to be highly-resistant to stains and rust. While that sort of blade is not as simple to sharpen as usual stainless steel blades, the advertized “no need for sharpening” advantage implies that it shouldn’t come up.

The Cuisinart blades are always forged, not molded, which makes for properly balanced blades that lay light in your hands but heavy on whatever you’re cutting. But naturally, these qualities are expected of nearly all forged knives, so that’s hardly anything to get excited about.

What’s more, if you are a person who would prefer to own identical kitchen tools but loses them more than usual, you might be pleased to find out that the components of any Faberware knife set can be purchased from any cookware store across the country. Don’t forget, Farberware is nearly everywhere!

Disadvantages

The relatively narrow handles of nearly all pieces in a Faberware knife set might pose a problem for users with large hands. Even though the blades work with relative success most of the time, keeping a proper grip on the handles may be difficult, especially when your hands are wet.

On the negative side of the “no need for sharpening” claim, this may apply only to repeated uses, as you still are required to sharpen the knives right out of their boxes. When you’ve sharpened them, you can simply perform maintenance to make these knives as well as possible. (Basically, the “no need for sharpening” feature is simply a marketing strategy)

The final decision on a Faberware kitchen knife set: It’s an average product which might be purchased at an average price. If you perform more demanding kitchen procedures, you may as well part with more money to acquire the proper kind of knives. For ordinary tasks in a home, a Farberware cutlery set will serve just fine.
